Stop it Joe!! Please STOP!!

Stop with the silly videos.

The first one, you know, by the Clinton Township IT guy, was just funny.

This latest one is just plain EMBARRASSING!!

It took you 2 days to figure out how to post it from Google docs to your Facebook, And this is what we got? Did you watch it in those 2 days and still think it would be wise to post?

Please tell me you and Matt got drunk and thought it would be a good idea to make this. That could be the only reason to explain the horrendous writing.

Did you fact check anything you said? You mention $100 million and 870,000 residents. According to this article it is $78 million and 500,000 residents.

Stop comparing what is happening in Flint to what is happening in Fraser. There is no comparison. Thousands of people in Flint are being exposed to contaminated water that will affect them for the rest of their lives. As far as i have heard the water is safe to drink in Fraser.

Did you think this would go viral and President Trump would come to Macomb County? #aintgonnahappen Once they do a background check on you, he will stay as far away from you as possible. #pettythief

If you really want to help the residents of Fraser then take my advice.

That’s right. Step back. Let the big boys handle this! I’m not saying don’t attend the update meetings. I’m just saying stay in the background. Keep informed for the residents of Fraser and Eberlein. I’m pretty sure you have your hands full with hiring a new City Manager, cutting spending for the new budget, towing, etc.

Speaking of cutting spending.

Did this video cost the city anything to produce?

I also heard a room was rented in Lansing for the State of the State address. Is this true? On the city’s dime? I mean, it’s less than an hour and a half drive to Fraser.

If you do decide to make another video can i help with the editing? Here is an example of my work.

Email To The FULL Council

By The Peoples Mayor

This morning I sent an email asking the city council a number of questions regarding recent events here in the city. I will post any and all responses here for the public to see.

from: Thomas LaDuke
to: Joseph Nichols ,
Matt Hemelberg ,,,
Patrice Schornak ,
Yvette Foster ,
Kathy Blanke
Kelly Dolland ,,

Good Morning,

I was very happy to see Governor Snyder visit the sinkhole site yesterday and offer his assistance to the county and the city to get things rolling even smoother than they have since Mrs Miller has taken over Jan-1-2017.

I do have some questions in and around this.

* Why was the FULL council not informed that the Governor of our state was visiting this site? Joe was notified of this and Matt and Yvette I’m sure were informed through Joe. Why were the two Mikes, Patrice and Kathy not informed through a email? Is this professional?

* How much did the P.S.A. announcing a Special Meeting featuring Joe talking about something related to the sinkhole announcing a special meeting cost? Was this used with taxpayer money? Being we are all well aware of Joe’s aversion to social media this was done by someone with knowledge of video, graphics and audio.

*Last calendar year this council held 23 meetings. You have already held 10 meetings this FISCAL year and you have had one this month already with another 3 scheduled. Why do we need TWO meetings scheduled on the sinkhole when the Jan 1st press conference cost the Fraser taxpayers ZERO in terms of council expenditures. The information at that presser was a much more effective way to get information out and does not tie up city employees and the contractors during a critical phase of this project.

I look forward to answers to these questions. Also any and all answers will be posted on PUBLIC social media site so all the citizens of Fraser can see what you the elected officials of Fraser think. In your own words.

That is truly being transparent….not just saying the word.

Check over at FRASER MAYOR all week for many more posts.

Matt Hemelberg has responded and below is my response to that.

I for one was not informed by the Mayor about this meeting. I myself along with other members of council have been at multiple meeting every week to keep informed of what is going on with the sinkhole and all of our displaced resident. I have help out in every aspect I could. I was even there Christmas eve and Christmas day, delivering our FPD, DPW and the workers cases of pop and water. I attended meetings there on Christmas day, New years eve, New years day taking time away from my family. I myself have taken every possible step to make sure I have had information on what is going on with our City and our residents. I as a member of council don’t feel I should have to take additional time away from my business and my family to inform other members of council what is going on. I have seen all but one member at meetings. They took the same oath as I did and should be putting forth a little effort to keep informed. The city has a link or information tab on its website for all who want updates. Many of us have spent countless hours out in the rain and cold to keep informed while others have sat in the comforts of their homes and complained about being informed. All members of council have the same luxury of going to the headquarters and sitting in on the meetings. I have met many families and many good people there.I have recieved much great information by attending. I refuse to spend extra time to inform the ones who have never spent an ounce of energy to get informed and depend on others to provide the information to them. We are all in this together and I think if members want to be informed they should put the effort forward to get informed. Being a councilmember requires more than just one thurday meeting. If taking time out of your day to get the information needed is to much, maybe its not the job for them. Just my feelings. Anything else I can help you with Tom feel free to reach out to me anytime. Like I said before there is a link on the City of Fraser website for anyone interested in the sinkhole progress. I hope you had a great holiday season. Have a great day.

Getting back to my original point than who informed YOU of the Governors visit?

I understand the time it takes to be out there asking questions of the people who are actually responsible for doing the work but a visit from the Governor is a pretty big deal. I know it took all of 2 minutes for me to answer this email and I would think that even though we are “Guys” we can at least multitask on letting others know of a important visit. Literally…there are no virtue points for going to meetings and not passing along this info.

See this has zero to do with you and how much time in the rain and cold doing X and getting in camera shots. This has to do with the info passed out to all elected officials. This simply looks petty. Very. Petty.

Also I just looked at the city website and county website and they both have no mention of this so once again to make this look like it is not You, Joe and Yvette just playing favorites again, playing politics. How did you find out about the Governors visit if it was not through Joe?

Thanks again

Matt gave a response to me later Mon night after the sinkhole meeting. Posted below this is my response

There was talk at the meeting friday at the headquaters. I heard Candice mention the governor might come out to the site. I seen on facebook channel 4 site (I believe 4 or 7) that he was comming in on sunday early afternoon. I went to the site and talked to AEW personnel and they told me he was but they were not for sure the time. I believe the Governor didnt give a certain time due to security reasons. I went there twice yesterday. We I went at noon there were people from governors office there( including security ) I asked when he was comming. His representative told me approx 1:00 p.m.
As I stated to you before Tom. If Kathy Blanke wants to be part of this she needs to get out and get the information. Letting her and the others know what is happening is not my job. They can’t just sit back and expect the rest of us to provide the information they should be searching for. If they tried getting invloved maybe they would learn something and have insight on whats going on. I have no need to call and inform them on issues they should be researching. Mike Lesich does a great job keeping social media sites up to date. He has been to just as many if not more meeting than I. If the news and everyone else knew that Snyder was comming I find it hard to believe Mike and his crew had no idea that Snyder was comming. If they were informed by an email why weren’t any of the three of us ( Mayor,Yvette and myself) also informed. You accuse us of hiding information. If it was sent to them and not us then maybe someone else needs to inform all of council. It’s a two way street. Apparently they have issues with communication also. In my eyes this is just another pathetic attempt to make it look like the Mayor, Yvette and I are hiding things and not being team players. That couldn’t be further from the truth. Maybe you should foia everyones emails and see who sends out emails to others and who has never really sent an email to any of us three. Like I have said before, if councilmembers are not informed on the issues of the sinkhole it’s definately because they have not put forth the effort to serve the community that they took oath to serve. I know you are totally one sided on the issues with this council as it shows on your podcast. (A.K.A. Matt Hemelbergs fav. Low budget podcast) as you signed on your email. Lol. But the best way for the member to get answers is SHOW UP and get your answers. Dont sit on the couch and wait for those who actually put forth the effort to run and give it to you. Just as it was said tonight that it wasn’t important to have this meeting. Well tonight we had more people than we ever have. ( as we did last sinkhole meeting). Many people recieved answer to their question and recieved help that they so deserved. That to me is a good reason to have a meeting. Providing answers to the questions asked. Serving the residents is what we on council should be doing. Also easing residents minds during this tragic time and giving them the answers to help them thru this event. If thats what it takes then I approve of these meetings. These meeting will be billed to the county along with all the resources we have provided since day one. It might not be paid tommorrow but I believe it will be taken care of. Sorry if my email is not 100% Tom but I am typing this from my phone. Have a great night.

Good Morning Matt,

First off kudos to responding yet again. I’m glad you caught the tag at the end of the my signature being your drop is a highly requested one. See…….I’m not such a monster after all.

So as I am often to do as you well know, I like to give political advice from time to time. You always ignore it, but I will attempt once again.

Stop being a DI#K

I asked a question of why Joe did not email ALL of council on a visit by OUR Governor. Now being you are telling me that you found out at HQ in random conversation I guess that will suffice for now. I find it odd though that Joe did not let you know. Really. Odd. Also aside from you and Yvette there are four other council people and a city manager. Just seems to be the courteous thing to do. You know…on of seven votes.

As the picture that was sent to me ( attached below) from someone that works on the site with daily notes from last week ( This person read the post yesterday at Fraser Mayor and sent it along) clearly shows that Joe “Firmly” noted that ALL questions related to this project go through his office. I would think that it would be incumbent on him to take 3 minutes ( 5 with spell check) and let all city officials know in a email. Being he must have known FIRMLY that the Governor was coming before all of his colleagues. Leaders do that stuff.

Now as for your diatribe about Kathy. I know Kathy has been under the weather as I think you recall from the Jan 3rd meeting.

Yet I will add this.

Kathy Blanke has done more in this town to help it’s citizens and the community than you or I could do in 10 lifetimes. She has always worked behind the scenes, not looking to get credit and jump in front of a TV camera and you damn well know this. If you don’t, than once again you listen to the wrong people and dont know the town you represent all that well. Why you would bring her up when I asked a question of why at least FOUR council people not just Kathy, were not given the courtesy of a heads up is just plain rude on your part. Hence the advice at the beginning of “Stop being a DI#K”

I will check with “Mike and his crew” to see if they sent emails on this and thank you for the F.O.I.A. idea. You gave me a interesting idea.

As for the meeting.

This could have been done at ZERO cost to the Fraser taxpayer and everyone of those questions could be answered.

Holding the meeting not as a official city council meeting means though that you dont get paid as a council. As I stated in my previous email, after 23 meetings in 2016 with a aprox cost of 70K these things add up. A press conference would work better, get all the questions answered and save the taxpayers money. Win / Win.

Even if as you say, that the county will pick up the bill ( Where has that been discussed? ) it is STILL TAXPAYER MONEY. Being you have never voted for a city budget claiming to watch the taxpayers money so close…..why not do that? Just remember that no matter if it is local, county, state or federal money that is yours and mine. You could have done this at no cost but some politicians need to get paid.

I know that my podcast is one sided, ENUFF is ruff and FAIR is not fair…yada yada yada. Social media is sooooo bad except when you only control the message. Sorry that the 1st adm doesn’t work that way and just provide safe spaces for politicians to only get out THEIR view Give this idea a whirl in that head of yours. If you had another side that had valid, sensible points, why are you afraid to express them in ANY venue? I get questioned all the time on what I believe and never fear the conversation. I also back my view up with links to numbers which usually lead to solid facts. Saying anything is one sided and not backing that up is just intellectually dishonest and I abhor that in politics and public servants.

In closing thank you once again for the F.O.I.A. idea. There are some groups in D.C. that are looking to test some things out and Fraser might be a interesting test case. Candice has worked with some of them so that might be a interesting combo.

Also for the remainder of your last 10 months in office actually try to serve the public and don’t just be the Gilligan to Joe’s, Skipper. If you actually have to list the stuff you are doing for the sinkhole while being “seen” maybe you are not going about this right. In fact….you aren’t.

One last thing. Don’t hug a guy who is a elected official that you just met. Looks just #awkward on T.V.

Do we need all these extra meetings and having P.S.A’s filmed that talk about special meetings?

The Grinches Dbl Down On Bullying In Fraser

By The Peoples Mayor

Never is done with this crew.

If you recall last week the SECOND most popular post in this sites history The Mayor That Stole Christmas showed the emails between city officials about a event that has gone on for YEARS with nary a issue.

Until Joe Nichols became involved.

Click on the link above to catch up or if you know the sordid history buckle up.

SIX DAYS after the city manager last emailed Joe on Tue Nov 22 and said the Rec Commission plan would be the route the event would take, Grinch Joe checks back in on Mon Nov 28 to say Grinch Nichols checks in. Even though the C.M. said the city should honor the Goodfellows and Public Safety officers with the ORIGINAL plan VOTED ON by the Rec Commission, Joe still thinks HE SHOULD be the center of attention. He is the MAYOR after all. Joe still is asking for his pick of people to be up on stage INSTEAD of P.S.O. representatives and the Goodfellows which work hard in this community each and every day.

Christina Woods who is the Parks and Rec director responds to this latest attempt to hijack this event from the original plan which if you check the previous emails once again Joe had no interest in being he wanted the date to change being he COULD NOT ATTEND.

Thank you Mayor for the suggestion to honor the Goodfellows and Fraser PSO in the Fire Bay for the Christmas in Fraser event. The Recreation will continue with the event as scheduled, which was voted unanimously by the Recreation Commission and agreed upon by the City Manager. We will be honoring the Goodfellows for the Lighting and the Fraser PSO handing the key to Santa.
It is clear Mrs. Ventimiglio should be acknowledged, and we will do so with a special tribute to her, at the ceremony before the lighting. I will add this to the itinerary. This way all parties will get special recognition, the Goodfellows, Fraser PSO along with Brandon Kelly (POC Firefighter) and kids, and Mrs. Ventimiglio.

Thank you and have a good day,

Mayor Bully Pants does not like that answer. Tis Dec-1-2016 ,only 2 days until the event and he STILL is bullying and pushing to get his way. Once again…..he did not take any interest in this for almost a MONTH after he was told the event could not be moved to accommodate HIS schedule. Now all of a sudden his CEREMONIAL role as Mayor trumps all the hard work others have put into make this event the success it is every year. Part time Mayors don’t put these things together, the city staff does but not since Joe won by barley 150+ votes.

So what does he do? Get a “opinion” from the city attorney.

Courtesy of a email from Dave Winowiecki ( which is listed below) the city law firms states that….

Mr. Tomlinson points out that you are a “ceremonious head and the key to the city represents that position, and I would think the Mayor holds the power to determine by whom that key is received”

Yet the ceremonial head wants to hi jack the whole ceremony and that must be done.

Joe will take over the stage and the Police and Fire personal along with the Goodfellows will be put into the fire bay. Joe HAS to have what he wants or he will just throw a fit like he does at council meetings.

Luckily the Parks And Rec Commission has a rational adult that can dissect this nonsense in Dave Winowiecki.

Again just to clarify this is David Winowiecki responding……………………..

Through the chain of e-mails from you to a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission, the Director of Parks and Recreation, select members of City Council, the City Manager, and the city Attorney, it appears that you have UNILATERALY decided to change the programing of our Christmas in Fraser program.

As I pointed out in previous communications, I have failed to find where you can exercise “the mayors choice” in a programming change, and as the City Manager pointed out that you do not have the “unilateral authority” to change the programming that Parks and Rec voted on, and best of all the city Attorney stated….”Accordingly, if Council has granted the Commission to oversee and run the tree lighting, then they would be the proper party to set the agenda.

Historically by way of the absence of input from City Council with regard to annual programming and acceptance of proposals from the Director of Parks and Rec (reference budget meetings at the Senior Center and subsequent budget approvals by Council), Council has granted the authority to Parks and Rec the additional powers that Mr. Tomlinson refers to in setting the agenda for programs. Mr. Tomlinson points out that you are a “ceremonious head and the key to the city represents that position, and I would think the Mayor holds the power to determine by whom that key is received”. This does not give you unilateral authority to change the entire program. Since our Director has conceded to your constant pressure, as a member of the Commission I will respect her actions, however, personally I will not respect yours.

In your e-mail to Sarah, (copying only select members of Council, the City Clerk, the City Manager, and our Director of Parks and Rec) you indicated that you felt that your suggestions were a “good compromise to a very confused situation”. To be clear, Compromise can only occur when all parties agree to a mutual solution. That did not occur in this situation. Members of the Commission who voted were not consulted, nor was the remainder of the City Council consulted as the City Manager suggested.
During your campaign, you spoke of the need for Ethics, more specifically……
1) Eliminate backroom deals and closed door sessions
2) Ensure that the public has access to city government by making every vote of council transparent and open
3) Expose and disclose those with hidden agendas and conflicts of interest

By your actions with regard to this subject, this doesn’t even appear as opaque or even translucent, let alone transparent or ethical. You were recently quoted in a newspaper article as suggesting that there is diviseness within the City Council and that there were separate agendas within the City Council. Through your actions and demeanor throughout this situation it appears to me that the diviseness and hidden agendas stems from the top because you undermined the Parks and Rec Commissioners, the Director of Parks and Rec, the City Manager, City Council as well as the City Attorney.

These are my final thoughts.

If for some reason our paths do not cross at “Christmas in Fraser”, I sincerely wish your family a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy Prosperous New Year.

Best regards,
David Winowiecki
Parks and Recreation Commissioner

See, Joe cant make it so the city damn well better change the date. He is TOO important NOT TO BE THERE.

The date of Christmas in Fraser cannot be changed. The event is always on the first Saturday in December at 5:30, and because it is one of those events that I can place a date to without waiting for other organizations, we do publicize it very early to local publications and dignitaries who put together ‘special event’ calendars. We have already booked the choir, band, ice sculptor, santa and rented the stage.

Regarding a special person to help with the lights, I can bring it to a commission meeting for them to decide (they choose the grand marshal for the parade, so this would be similar) or if council would like to recommend someone that is fine too.

Let me know if I should go ahead and look for a person or organization to do the countdown.

Who acts like this? Seriously, ask yourself why is this man an elected official? His behavior in this and MANY OTHER instances proves he is just a bully and unfit to lead.

The Parks & Rec commission had a meeting on Nov 1st which they went over what was going to happen for this event. The Goodfellas and the Fraser Police Dept were going to be honored. Mayor Pro-Tem Carnegie was going to handle the Mayor ceremonies being Joe Nichols said in his previous emails HE COULD NOT BE THERE.

Yet the body that is appointed by the CITY COUNCIL to handle things for Parks & Rec lays out a plan at a public meeting and the plan is voted on but Jumpin Joe wants to change all that around. Who are we to disagree?

Joe demands a meeting with Christina Woods who is the Parks & Rec director along with Joe Nichols supporter Angie V. who now has to flip the switch to the lights every year. Forget what the Park & Recs commission thinks, Joe & Angie have a plan and YOU BETTER FOLLOW IT. Why does Joe need a meeting to impose his view this late in the process? Remember he was not even going to be there unless they changed the date. Simply, this is another bully tactic.

Dave Winowiecki who is a member of the Parks & Rec commission responds to a email after Christina lets EVERYONE know that Joe and Angie have now inserted themselves to alter the plans that lots of other people have been working on for almost 6 months.

I am writing this in response to the requested changes made to you with regard to the “Christmas in Fraser” program. This is intended to elicit responses from City Council members, the City Manager, as well as fellow Commissioners of Parks and Recreation.

If memory serves me correctly, the Mayor stated in previous e-mails that he was unable to attend the event and had requested the date to be changed. I also recall that the City Manager supported that the date not be changed because of his scheduling conflict. As a result, in our Parks and Recreation meeting on November 1, 2016 the Commission unanimously voted on a program for the tree lighting and to hand over the key to the city. I am confident that the vote was accurately documented in minutes kept of our meeting and I am also confident that the minutes were made available to City Council as required by our By -Laws. In reviewing the minutes of City Councils last meeting of November 10, 2016 I am unable to find any mention of concern from Council regarding programming that the Commission voted on. Why then was a special meeting held with one member of Council, a resident, and the Director of Parks and Recreation just days away from the ceremony that resulted in our vote being over turned and alternate programming implemented? This type of activity from one member of Council undermines the authority and confidence afforded to us as appointees of a Commission representing this great city. I urge all listed above to respond as soon as possible.

Parks and Recreation Commissioner

A well thought out response from Mr. Winowiecki

Mayor Grinchy Shorts is not impressed and his response is below. Also this is his ACTUAL response. Nothing is doctored. Nothing. At. All.

GM Mrs. Winowiecki/All,

I hope this email finds Mr. doing well and his health improving daily!
I’m sorry you don’t have the correct information with regards to Christmas in Fraser.
I never said I would not attend, I inquired as to the possibility of a schedule change?
When informed that there were many prearranged factors that would not accommodate a change, I changed my plans so to happily attend as Mayor as scheduled.
With regard to your concern about a “special meeting”…I encourage you to be more selective with your choice of words.
1st there was no special meeting, no quorum, no vote, no agenda, quite simply Christina and I met to review the outline for the evening and I invited Angie V to attend as it is the Mayors choice.
I asked her to be part of the lighting. She was for many years an important part of this event and I plan to continue her involvement for years to come.
I value good traditions and I truly hope Ms. Kelley and her children can help us make this evening special!
Christmas is about the kids and I would be honored to have their help!
While I respect and greatly appreciate all of the time and effort on behalf the Parks and Rec Commission, this string of emails or ANY confusion regarding the subject matter would not have occurred if the department head or someone had verified that I would not be attending. No one checked and verified!
For clarification and to avoid planning without confirmation in the future an inquiry on a schedule change is absolutely not a decline of invitation.
I would ask that you and any person charged with the responsibility of planning any city event please be sure that due diligence has been followed before assuming anything and spending time voting on something that no one has confirmed as fact!
I hope to see you and your family December 3rd and wish you and yours a blessed and beautiful holiday.

Simply. Stunning. All Joe would have to do is go back and check his emails from Sept 30th and Oct 10th to see that he said this………

OCTOBER 10th 8:53 A.M.

Christina I would like to move the tree lighting up a week or back a week as I have a prior commitment that I can’t do December 3rd.

Does that sound like he can make it? Well, how about this……..

OCTOBER 10th 11:09 A.M.

Please set a time for us to meet, and work out changing this date, as I have indicated I have a prior commitment and we need to change this event date.
Thank you both in advance for your time resolving this matter. Enjoy your day.

Does that sound like someone who can make the event? If his plans changed after he was told NO JOE, WE CANT CHANGE THE EVENT, why didn’t he take a moment and show some common courtesy to inform everyone that he could now attend the event.

Narcissists are incapable of that.

He blames everyone else and now wants EVERYTHING to change around to accommodate HIM and his campaign supporter Angie, who from now until eternity must be part of a event for what reason again?

Oh. Yes.

She supported Joe during the campaign. What perks.

No wonder people are looking to recall this embarrassment of a Mayor.

Fraser, are you better off than you were one year ago with this guy and his co horts making decisions on your behalf?

Dave Winowiecki who sits on the Parks & Rec commission, responds to Mayor Grinchsters plan to hi-jack the event that he said he was not going to be able to attend.

To avoid any confusion, just to clarify, this is David Winowiecki responding……..

Thank you for your prompt response………

Your response alleges that I don’t have the correct information with regard to “Christmas in Fraser” and I have to disagree with you (unless I have missed something along the way). On September 30th 2016 you sent our Director of Parks and Rec an e-mail asking about the ceremony date as well as indicating that you may have a conflict and you were trying to head it off early. A subsequent e-mail sent by you on October 10, 2016 stated that you wanted it moved up or back a week as you had a prior commitment and “I can’t do December 3, 2016 “. You continued by asking “Also are you thinking of anyone this year to help with the lights like we did with Maddy last year?” Our Director of Parks and Rec promptly replied that the date could not be changed due to advance planning and vendors were already confirmed and booked. In that same e-mail, our Director (referring to the lights question) informed you that she would “bring it to a commission meeting for them to decide (they chose the Grand Marshal of the parade so this would be similar), or if the council would like to recommend someone, that is fine too”. Also in the e-mail our Director said “let me know if I should go ahead and look for a person or organization to do the countdown “.

The e-mail that followed from you, (again on October 10, 2016, addressed to our Director, cc’ing Rich Haberman, Kelly Dolland and Tim Tomlinson), requested a meeting to discuss changing the date and confirming yet again that you had a prior commitment and “we need to change the date”. Within one hour our Director responded with times that she was available to meet. Less than 15 minutes later the City Manager followed with an e-mail informing you that the event is for the people of Fraser and that he was not going to direct Christina to change the date. It is my understanding that Christina did not hear from you again until November 14, 2016……(well after the Parks and Rec Commission met, decided on the program, and voted). Please note that 34 days had passed before it somehow became a concern of yours again even though several e-mails were exchanged on the subject October 10, 2016. You allege that our Department Head did not verify that you would not be attending……..your e-mails were pretty clear that you would not be able to attend unless the date changed and you were duly informed that it would not. You ask that anyone charged with the responsibility of planning any City event to be sure that due diligence has been followed before assuming anything and voting…… were invited to offer council the option of input on the programming and there was no response…….planning for the event was posted on the Parks and Rec meeting agenda for October as well as November of 2016 and we received no input from anyone, so quite simply, our Director and the Commission did its job.

In your response to me you said “I encourage you to be more selective with your choice of words” with regard to a special meeting……If I have struck a nerve, please accept my apology, however, to clarify I stand by my choice of words as I did not allege that a special meeting of council was held, rather, a special meeting between a Council member, a resident, and our Director was held to discuss programming already decided. You also stated “I invited Angie V to attend as it is the Mayors choice”. Please point me to either the Parks and Rec By-Laws, the City Charter or any other official document of the city where it states that it is the Mayor’s choice to demand or direct programs of any appointed Commission within the City of Fraser. I have failed to find where you have that authority.

In closing you are correct about one thing, Christmas is for Kids, which is why the Commission decided that the Fraser Goodfellows should be the group to turn on the lights (personally I would be thrilled if Sarah’s children would accompany them in doing so) since they do so many positive things for kids especially during the Christmas Season. The Commission also decided that our Public Safety could use some positive reinforcement. They are quite often unnecessarily scrutinized as they put their life on the line every day with little to no thanks from the general public. I would think that you would be thrilled to share the moment with them as they offer the key to one of the safest cities in Macomb County to Santa as he arrives. You speak of good traditions…… the Parks and Rec Commission in starting some new ones, Fraser needs it.

By the way, thank you for the well wishes in my recovery. I am doing well.

Happy Thanksgiving
David Winowiecki
Parks and Recreation Commissioner

GM Mr. Winowiecki,

I am glad to hear you are feeling better everyday. Thank you for taking the time to share you thoughts, I appreciate your email. I hope to see you and Mrs. December 3rd for the lighting. Have a great day and god bless your family this holiday season.

If only he was this short and sweet during council meetings, they would be 90 minutes long. Sounds like the plan that was put into place over the past 4 months is going forward.

Just in case that was in doubt, the city manager checks in.

I hope by your last response that you have changed your mind in this matter and the event will go on as planned by the Recreation Commission and Director. If not, As noted by Mr. Winowiecki the attached email is pretty specific in that you would not be available on December 3rd. You also asked if Christina had someone special to be recognized. Subsequently the Recreation Commission working with the Recreation Director has made plans, including whom to recognize.

Now, two weeks before the event you decide that not only will you be there, but it appears that you want to change the entire agenda and persons involved. I am sorry Mayor, but you do not have unilateral authority in this matter and, barring a special meeting and having the Council overrule the Administration and Recreation Commission, the event should go on as planned.

This is a LONG thread but a clear example of how a simple title can go to someones head.

Fraser……are you better off than you were one year ago? Also, can you take another 3 years of this behavior?

Be. Honest.
